Quick start guide

New to bddr.ai? Get from install to your first optimization in five minutes.

1. Install bddr.ai

  1. Visit the Chrome Web Store listing and click Add to Chrome.
  2. Navigate to Amazon Advertising Console and open any campaign's targeting page.
  3. You'll see the bddr.ai icon appear in the bottom-right corner of the page. Click it to open the side panel.

That's it — no API keys, no account linking, no data leaving your browser.

2. Complete the setup wizard

On first launch, a 5-step wizard walks you through the essentials:

  1. Target ACoS — Your ideal Advertising Cost of Sales. This is the benchmark bddr.ai uses for all recommendations. Most sellers start with 25-35%.
  2. Estimated fees — Your Amazon fees as a percentage of revenue (referral fee + FBA). This sets your breakeven ACoS. Default 30% works for most categories.
  3. Optimization preset — How aggressively bddr.ai adjusts bids:
    • Conservative — 14-day cooldown, max 10% change. Best if you're cautious or managing high-spend campaigns.
    • Moderate — 7-day cooldown, max 20% change. Good default for most sellers.
    • Aggressive — 3-day cooldown, max 25% change. For experienced sellers who want fast iteration.
  4. Telemetry — Optional anonymous diagnostics to help us catch bugs. No campaign data, keywords, or spend is ever sent.
  5. Done! — The wizard completes and a quick spotlight tour highlights the key parts of the panel.

You can always change these settings later in Settings (gear icon in the panel header).

3. Your first scan

After setup, bddr.ai automatically scans the grid on the current page:

  • The Page Readiness card at the top checks if the right columns are visible and sorted correctly. If something's off, click the pulsing Fix button — it'll enable missing columns and set the optimal sort automatically.
  • A spinning indicator shows while the scan is in progress. bddr.ai reads every visible row, including scrolling through the full page if auto-scan is enabled.
  • Once complete, the panel populates with your data — ACoS card, health scoring, priority list, and more.

Tip: Set your Amazon date range to Last 30 days for the best balance of data volume and recency.

4. Read the dashboard

The side panel shows everything in one scrollable view:

ACoS hero card

Your actual ACoS vs. your target — big and unmissable. Green means you're below target, red means above.

Your priority list

Every target in the grid is classified into one of 8 health tiers:

  • Bleeders — Spending with zero orders. These are actively wasting money.
  • Unprofitable — Getting sales, but ACoS exceeds breakeven. Losing money per sale.
  • High ACoS — Profitable but above your target. Room for improvement.
  • Heroes — Below target with sales. Your best performers.
  • Untapped — Great ACoS but low impressions. Scale with higher bids.
  • Low Relevance — High impressions, near-zero clicks. The ad doesn't match the search.
  • Dormant — Zero impressions. The bid is too low to win any auctions.
  • Gathering Data — Not enough clicks yet to classify confidently.

On the grid

You'll also see overlays directly on Amazon's grid:

  • ACoS/ROAS heatmap — Cells colored green (good) to red (bad) based on your target.
  • Health tier badges — "Hero", "Bleeder", etc. next to each entity name.
  • Trend badges — Small arrows showing whether ACoS is improving or worsening since your last visit.

5. Your first action

The fastest way to optimize: Quick Optimize.

  1. Open the Command Palette with Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K on Windows) and select Quick Optimize. Or click the Quick Optimize button in the Priority List.
  2. This builds a changeset across 4 high-confidence tiers: slash bleeders, optimize unprofitable + high-ACoS, and boost heroes.
  3. Review the changeset preview — you can see every proposed change with the old bid, new bid, and reasoning. Each item shows a trend indicator if historical data is available.
  4. Deselect any items you don't want to change (click to toggle, shift-click for ranges).
  5. Click Apply Changes — bddr.ai writes the new bids directly into Amazon's grid cells, one by one.
  6. If you change your mind, click Undo in the session bar to revert.

Pro tip: You can also download the changeset as a bulksheet (Excel file) and upload it to Amazon's bulk operations tool — useful for large campaigns or when you want an audit trail outside the extension.
